Example Projects - City of Braham and Rushford Water Treatment Plant
Braham - BDM worked with the City of Braham to design and oversee the construction of a new 500 gpm water treatment plant on one of the City's wells. The water being extracted from the well contained high levels of iron, manganese, and radon, a newly regulated pollutant which is known to cause cancer in high doses. BDM worked with the City of Braham to meet regulations through the identification and application of the cost-effective Tonka Equipment UTS treatment technology. Additionally, BDM helped the City of Braham obtain funding for the project through the State Revolving water treatment loan fund. The total construction costs for the project were $1.25 million including a water treatment system, a backwash holding tank and two high-service pumps.

Rushford - BDM was retained by the City of Rushford to upgrade the City's treatment plant to meet current regulations. After an initial pilot study, BDM recommended that a water treatment system with aeration, addition of hydrous manganese oxides (HMO) and filtration could effectively reduce iron, manganese and radium from the City’s groundwater to meet the Federal primary and secondary drinking water standards. BDM evaluated numerous different treatment options and design features to obtain the optimal configuration of safety and efficiency. BDM worked with the City of Rushford from initial plant design through construction administration and plant start up.
